Three-hundred volunteers are counting the number people living without homes in Vancouver. The goal of this project, run by the City of Vancouver, is to end homelessness by 2015.

Here’s a quote from Gregor Robertson, mayor of our city, published in today in The Vancouver Observer:

“This count gives us the critical baseline information we need to update our Homeless Action Plan, which will guide the City’s efforts to end street homelessness by 2015,” said Mayor Gregor Robertson. “We need updated, detailed information to track our progress.”

Update: You will see a new photo here – one actually from Vancouver that I took on my way to this cafe, instead of the one I had earlier from New York City.

As the M.L.A. for Mount Pleasant has stated a billion times, homelessness is not a

a static statistic, but a dynamic one that changes more than the weather, or any of

the lies Campbell cares to legitimize by once again seizing the moment and redefining

his public persona. Like Jean Drapeau at Expo 67, this guy never stops to amaze me,

For example, a few years back I was exiting the elevator at a posh housing project on

the U.B.C. campus and he walks in, so I uttered “Boy are you gonna get it when the

legislature reconvenes, and guess what he replied ? That’s right, “but it’s not

sitting”. Sure, M.L.A.’s have spent more time in their ridings only to return to

filibusters, and that’s not participatory democracy, especially when the main issue on

the agenda, til we all die from overexposure, was the Olympics, as if most from the

D.T.E.S. could afford to go. Then when the peace party was over, all hell began to

break out, and the result was a hey day for the N.D.P..ie. “clean” air act

cooking show on Cable 4,it’s an attempt to become a rock star,or a drunken sojourn in

    Hawaii,
