Back from our offline adventures in Osoyoos
I’m so tired I can barely see straight – but I want to check in to say I’m back online again after four nights camping in Osoyoos. This is the first time in years that I’ve been away from a computer for so long, and surprisingly I didn’t miss it as much as I thought I would.
Perhaps it’s a bit sacreligious to say that on my blog… but it’s true!
We were too busy enjoying things like Rattlesnake Canyon – a great little amusement park framed with a gorgeous view of the rolling hills above Osoyoos. As you see in the photo, my son was having a load of fun.
We camped at Haynes Point Provincial Park and it was such a beautiful place to be. Note that it fills quickly and reservations are recommended. You can do this online using the Discover Camping Reservation System. I reserved our spot at this popular site on April 1 – the day the system opened for the season.
My son made friends with other kids and together they ripped around on their bikes and had a blast. We had camp fires, cooked marshmallows, and paddled around Lake Osoyoos in a little inflatable boat. Our excellent tent kept us totally dry, even though it rained for at least part of each night. It’s a Funhouse 6 from Mountain Equipment Co-op and I’m so impressed with it – and MEC is not paying me to say this!
Now I’m back in Vancouver, ready to resume the online portion of my life – looking forward to WordCamp Vancouver (#WCYVR10) tomorrow.

Such a great photo. I have many memories of Osoyoos from when I was growing up and we went camping there. I know exactly where you were. That’s great!
