Good moon rising in South Cariboo

Last night I enjoyed the sight of the moon rising over the lake. In my tent, I read a book by lantern (battery powered) while the coyotes and loons howled and hooted outside. This morning I watched squirrels running and dragonflies flitting - and now I've lined up wireless access at my campsite!

Revamping my ergonomic setup, Part 2: The new desk

April 18, 2010
By Susan Main

Today I got a new desk at Ikea – and this very blog post is the first thing I’ve written at my new desk. It’s a white Fredrik work station from Ikea. I haven’t even decided what to put on the shelves, and there is room for my desk top and lap top. As...

In the bushes or on the street? Sleeping outside in Vancouver

April 9, 2010
By Susan Main

Someone has been sleeping on this old futon in the bushes beside a path near my house. Vancouver’s Frances Bula reported in the Globe and Mail today that 400 people were sleeping outside in Vancouver, with another 1,400 in homeless shelters. This is the lowest number of people sleeping on the streets since 2002...
