In the bushes or on the street? Sleeping outside in Vancouver

Someone has been sleeping on this old futon in the bushes beside a path near my house. Vancouver’s Frances Bula reported in the Globe and Mail today that 400 people were sleeping outside in Vancouver, with another 1,400 in homeless shelters.
